DIVISIONS OF THE OFFICE OF CLERK OF SUPERIOR COURT
CIVIL DIVISION
The Civil Division is responsible for filing, processing, storing & retrieving civil records for Superior Court.  This division also manages appeal records for the Superior Court.

CRIMINAL DIVISION
The Criminal Division files misdemeanor & felony Criminal cases.  This process includes filing citations (when applicable), accusations, indictments and all relative pleadings.  This Division makes reports to various state agencies.

REAL ESTATE DIVISION
The Real Estate Division records all land transactions for Newton County.  The records begin in 1821 and go through the current year. The dockets included in this department are – DEEDS, LIENS, PLATS, UCC & BPA (Business Professional Application), Limited & General Partnerships, Hospital Liens

FRONT OFFICE STAFF
The front office staff handles a wide range of duties not limited to:

Passports
The Clerk’s office also accepts U.S. Passport applications.  You must apply in person and have with you a certified copy of your birth certificate and current photo identification.  For instructions and fees, you may obtain a application from our office or visit the passport website at http://www.travel.state.gov/

Notary Application
New and Renewal Applications are applied online at www.gsccca.org/Projects/npapp.asp and then taken to the Clerk’s office for final processing.

Military Discharge (DD214)
DD214 records are not available to the general public.  For anyone viewing or requesting a copy of a DD214 an information request form must be completed.
