Paver Dedication

on Jul 12, 2014

A dedication ceremony was held on Friday, June 21, 2013, unveiling the first engraved paver placed at the Newton County Judicial Center. The paver was placed in honor of Jim Dial.

The judges of the Superior Court of Newton County and Linda Hays, Clerk of the Superior Court, honored Jim Dial on June 21, 2013, by dedicating a paver at the Newton County Judicial Center bearing his name and his eleven years of service as the mail clerk for the courts. Jim was originally hired by Davis Morgan, then chairman of the board of commissioners, to deliver mail each day to the various court offices. He was a dedicated employee, and everyone looked forward to seeing him each day as he made his rounds. According to the judges and the Clerk, mail delivery has not been the same since Jim retired in 2010, and he is really missed. This is the first and only paver dedicated at the Judicial Center, an honor truly deserved by this special young man. A special thank you goes to Miles Cope, Jim Williams, and Newton County Facilities Management for making this project possible.
